Description

Hooookay, so this was actually accidental but I drew this woman and... really that's all she wrote. I had to! Sorry if the headshot looked rushed...
-------------------
Name: Ellis, Bethan
Race: Superhuman
DOB: 12/25/72
Current Age: 40
Gender: Female
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 190lbs
Hometown: Hollyhead, Wales

Super Natural Ability:

:bulletred:Flames: Has extensive control over flames, if they are already there. Her specialty has to do with creating a thin 'whip' of fire. After the fire is under her control, she has no problem adjusting the size of the flame. However, if there is no fire already ignited, she can either use something like a lighter to create one, or she can use a great deal of concentration and energy to draw one from hot air and friction. This isn't something she is prone to doing (because it leaves her so drained), and eventually when she took up smoking, all her woes were solved. She carries at least three lighters at all times.

Secondary:
:bulletred:Strength: Summons a great deal of physical strength in times of need; an emotional surplus isn't necessary but if she has an adrenaline release, the amount of adrenaline is directly proportional to the amount of strength. She uses this ability in the place of leverage: she isn't huge, and if her opponent is, the rush will give her a burst a strength big enough to break bone under circumstances in which it normally wouldn't be possible for her, such as breaking their fingers in a grapple.

Weaknesses:
:bulletorange:Impatience: She is quite ill-tempered and will not wait for anything if she's decided on something.

:bulletorange:Reckless: Driven by her impatience, she often dives into fights without a plan. Even given her strength and flames, she has no foresight and often is what leads to defeat.

:bulletorange:Hot-headed: She has a habit of saying a little too much of what is on her mind, and says things in the heat of the moment without a second thought.

Notes:
She is missing about half the pinky finger on her left hand; she has a scar on the right eye. She uses her scarf as a sad attempt to cover a huge burn scare that covers the right side of her neck, and that whole shoulder-blade; there are assorted smaller burns along other parts of her body and she doesn't take any special care to cover them.

History:
:bulletyellow:As a child, she lived out in the country with her father and three older brothers. Of them, only she and one brother had powers and spent much time together trying to figure out how to control them. As a result, she burned both of them many times, though that never deterred them from trying to perfect their skills.

:bulletyellow: Around the age of 10, the police stormed their farmhouse in attempt to arrest her and her brother, after they had accidentally caused forest fires several times, suspecting arsonists. They eventually arrested her father for their mistakes. Her brother, thinking they wanted them locked up for their powers, gave her enough time to run away, but it wasn't necessary: she was fine and could fend for herself. He also managed to escape their grasp, and they fled in opposite directions.

:bulletyellow:They met up again in Dublin, after she sneaked onto a ferry across the channel. She had cut her hair short and wore modest clothes to hide burns. She hid well among the people of Ireland; no one really looked twice at her freckles and red hair. The two decided to stay together for a while, but eventually parted ways as a mutual decision.

:bulletyellow:She lived along the coast, usually doing odd jobs for fishermen for her meals, and generally had a peaceful go of it despite past troubles. However, when she was 15, she was out on the water with only her and the other apprentices, and one fell in. She dived in to save him from drowning, but on the way down her brow caught on a fish hook, giving her the faded scar through her left eyebrow.

:bulletyellow:At 18, she fell deeply in love with a man from New York. He was several years older than her, but they were in love indefinitely: he invited her back to New York with her and she heartily accepted.

:bulletyellow:Two years later, they were set to be married, and had a baby on the way. However, there was a problem a few weeks into their engagement. She had decided to trust her husband-to-be with the secret of her powers. He was not a fan. Her fiance lashed out, and their engagement broken off. She was left alone with the baby, and unable to get enough money to raise him herself, put him up for adoption.

:bulletyellow:Realizing the hatred she had developed for regular humans, she bounced from job to job until she landed in Maine and heard tell of a renegade group set on control of the normal population. It was music to her ears.

:bulletyellow:Basically, the rest is history and she now lives in a boat house on the Marina.

Personality:
:bulletgreen:Due to extenuating circumstances, she was denied a normal childhood and education, and really lacks any want for one. She is quite alright with the little book-smarts she has and the plethora of street smarts.

:bulletgreen:Her many injuries, demeanor, and... interesting... outfits can make her hard to approach, which is kind of what she goes for. She doesn't want any wusses coming crying to her.

:bulletgreen:The only thing she's really ever regretted in her life is giving up her baby, so sometimes when she sees a boy with red hair, or who would be her son's age, she'll think of him.

:bulletgreen:It isn't often she actually leaves the Reserve anymore. The higher population of Supers leaves less of a knot in her stomach than the ratio outside.

:bulletgreen:She can be brusque and rude, and really could not care one iota. She has places to be, you know!

:bulletgreen:Her favorite thing to do is sit out on the boat in the lake late at night and smoke with her fishing rod in the water. Despite the fact she dresses in a womanly manner, it's mostly for show. If she dressed the way she thought, it would probably be overalls and galoshes every day.

:bulletgreen:Something about being on the water is cathartic for her, though her main strength is over fire and is pretty much null out there; that might even be the reason it IS calming. If something goes awry with her flames, there will always be something there to catch it.

RP Sample:

The crash of the waves, the rocking of the boat could lull Beth asleep out here. She sat cross-legged in a nightdress, in a poorly constructed folding chair on the bow of the boat she called home. She was still tied at the dock, not even moving, but as she exhaled smoke from her cigarette, she could close her eyes and --

What was that sound? A bird? A cricket? It doesn't matter, it just needed to stop making that --

She put put her cigarette in the ashtray, all but storming over to get her robe. Well, that was a night ruined. God, Beth hated when woodland creatures ruined such a nice night. She went to untie the boat from the dock, and the noise stopped. She paused, and started to walk away, with a quiet 'oh, whatever!'. Then the noise started. And then it stopped. And then it started. And on. And on. For what seemed like forever. GOD did she hate land animals! Why couldn't they be like fish? Fish were so quiet, so unassuming. So tasty.

Finally, she did untie the boat from the dock. She drove out a good distance from shore, and finally, finally, she had silence. Beth sat back in her chair with a sigh, lighting up --

What was that on the hull? What, what, what was that? No.

"Caw?" The bird looked confused as to why it was on fire.
